October 27th is “World Day for Audiovisual Heritage”. This date was chosen in 2005 to commemorate 25 years since “Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images” was adopted on October 27th 1980. On this day, audiovisual archives all over the world have celebrations in some way. Here is a message from the Director General of UNESCO, Koichiro Matsuura.
